FILTER Frontman Comments On New Album Title Inspiration
March 6, 2008The Pulse of Radio reports that the new FILTER lineup was unveiled by frontman and founder Richard Patrick earlier this week at shows in San Diego on March 2, Orangevale, California on March 3 and San Francisco on March 4. The band also introduced fans at the shows to a couple of new songs from the new FILTER album, "Anthems for the Damned", which will arrive on May 13. Patrick told The Pulse of Radio what inspired him to call the record "Anthems for the Damned". "All of us, if we don't change what's going on with human behavior, it's almost like I'm singing a farewell song to humanity," he said. "I cannot believe that in the face of nature, that in the face of what we're doing on this planet, that we are still the greedy, evil bastards that we are. And within the entertainment of a CD, of a rock CD, I would hope to have some kind of message this time."
The new FILTER lineup includes guitarist Mitchell Marlow, bassist Charles Lee and drummer Mika Fineo.
"Anthems for the Damned" features guest appearances from ROB ZOMBIE guitarist John 5, former LIMP BIZKIT axeman Wes Borland and A PERFECT CIRCLE/NINE INCH NAILS drummer Josh Freese.
The CD's first single, "Soldiers of Misfortune", was inspired by a FILTER fan who joined the U.S. military for college tuition and was subsequently shipped to Iraq and killed there.
Patrick and his wife Tina welcomed their first child, a daughter named Sloan Luella Patrick, into the world on February 23.
